Al.jpg

Here's Al Tschida's C/Gas Willys. I assisted on this car back in the 60's. Al won the Indy Nationals in 1964. Back then there was only the Indy Nationals and the Winter Nationals, not 29 national meets a year. So it was a big deal. 292cu.in. sbc, Hilborn injection, Racer Brown roller cam, Mondello heads, T-10 4 speed, 5.83 rear end.

That's really cool. My dad used to go to the Indy Nats when we lived in Cincinnati Bob W. He assisted with this car some and the Agitator Willys pick-up before this car. You guys were probably there at the same time.

Here are some pictures of my 65 coronet altered wheel base that we did just to prove to ourselves that we could do. We have not finished it yet.:):)

Als004.jpg

Back on page 64 is a black & white pic of Al Tschida's C/Gas Willys. I helped a bit racing that car in the early 60's The pic above is a clone of that car that just came out of the paint booth. This version will ba a lot faster. BTW I photographed a photocopy of a photograph to get this shot. Hope that isn't too confusing.

Gas, Thanks a lot for the great pic! Al has been collecting as many pics as he can find. This is one we haven't seen before. I'll forward it to him.

Not a real altered, maybe a "street freak" as the purists on the HAMB call them. Work in progress: '26 dodge 4 door, '62 olds 394 and 4 sp hydro. Joe.

Anyone out there see this 33 Willys run. It was out of Hanover.Pa and ran a small block 301 chevy with hilborn injection. It ran in the late sixties and early 70s untill it was rolled at the Kil-Kare dragstrip in Ohio.

Baraboo.jpg

Russ Baraboo & Tom Ostner built the supercharged Olds powered Willys hardtop in the mid-60's They were successful at blowing the engine up regularily. Notice it is being flat towed and all the cars in the picture would be collectable nowdays.
