decided to try to build most of the body myself out of steel.
with the exception being the compound curve of the rear corners of the bucket body, as my engish wheel is down for a time.

heres some layout of the metal panels.
and the last pic is of the cowl top in the shrinker, after bending a 1 inch lip all around in the brake.

Doing a little more work on the cowl top, i have a 31 pickup cab in the corner i've been sneakin measurements off of to keep it proportionate. the cowl itself measures about 30 inches in the front and approx 33 on the dash side. i used a window frame from a 27 ford to get the radius close.

started on the hood lip which will attach to the front of the cowl top. i cut a 1.5 inch wide piece of sheet metal 50 inches long, then bent it on a 90 in the brake. after i bent it i rolled a bead in the bottom lip, then worked it in the stretcher untill it followed the radius of the cowl,. It will be spot welded to the front cowl lip later.

Subscribed.

I want to do this too. I have a 600CC R6 motor on the shelf that I want to do this with....... just be considerably smaller and light weight.

thanks guys, its good to back building again.
the whole idea behind this build is use the parts i have, make the body panels from scratch, and make it able to pull my teardrop. (a previous build) that weights in at 965 pounds and is 11 foot long by 6 foot wide. heres a couple pics of that.

thanks dirty, they are great to have.

heres some more progress, since my english wheel is down temporarily, i decided to recycle some metal and help out the planet. can you tell what this trusty ol ford fender is guna turn into?

while your guessing i'll go ahead and bend the 90's in the cowl side panels and door outer panels, and bead roll em up.

notice it doesnt take much in the shrinker to get the curvature of the panels, a light tap on the handle about every 3 inches give it a nice slight curve, the bodies on these arn't square but more of a rounded rectangle. narrower at the front wider just past the doors then they start back in towards the rear again. follow me? cause i might of got lost myself.....

i also made the lip for the front cowl sides (where the hood sides would rest). to do this i just bent up 2 90's to form a step, these will be welded onto the cowl side also.

a few pics of the sides clamped to the cowl top.

now onto the firewall, rolling some beads.

here are some shots finishing up the firewall design. nothing to fancy, i want it to look like an older build style.

and the last 2 a little temporary mock up to see the bigger picture. i think we all love that first site and the feeling it gives us.

I'm with zz. This is a very interesting build. Take good pics of how you frame the door and do the door surround on the body.
