HEI Distributor

I just got a new (to me) sbc motor for my rat but i dont know how to wire the distributor, one dark brown, one red, and one black.

There should be 3 wires that go from the pickup coil & module (under the rotor) up to the cap with a plug in at the end. You only really need 1 wire from ignition to plug into B+ on cap.

Here are a couple of examples, the red/black one will be a stock style, while the MSD looks different, it's wired the same. The BAT terminal will need power that is turned on and off by the key. The TACH terminal is just that, a connection point that you can use for the tachometer signal wire.

And make sure you use a heavier gage wire to get enough voltage to it.
