I have a 54 GMC 1/2 ton panel truck. I would like to lower the front end and I'm thinking of just removing a couple of leafs according to a technical article I read from someone on this site who forwarded it to me.....what are the implications and drawbacks? Is it a pretty easy job to complete?

Thanks for the advice!

You can remove a couple leafs, but don't go any more than that on stock springs. If you want to lower it put a dropped axle under it. It looks killer and is not a lot of work to install. Nostalgia Sid does some excellent work, and I have used several of his axles. Top notch. You can check it out here - http://www.droppedaxles.com

No big deal. Just take every other leaf out, not 2 next to each other. Do you have enough space from the frame? Front springs aren't usually real beefy to start with. Drop axles might the best option.
