I picked up a 76 parts truck today for......drum-roll please......$100!!!!!!!!!

Front disc brakes, later rear end, all five lug, wheels and tires, power steering, gas tanks...everything except the motor and tranny! My 63 is going to be pimp status :D. I'm so excited, just had to share.

I know I know....PICS....the camera is charging as we speak. :p

Sweet!!!

Joe,
That is sweet! A good parts donor is *always* good to have around!!! Let's see those pictures!

I've heard a lot of people get some good deals on there, but the format seems confusing to me a little. Just I just haven't looked at it enough. Good score, nothing like a complete parts car, lots of little stuff to salvage.

My problem has always been getting rid of the stripped hulk. Used to be able to call a scrap guy and they would show up that day, now they want money to take them away and are fussy, like having wheels, motors, etc. Maybe that has changes since scrap prices are up again.

I search CL everyday!..................I got my Nailhead motor there, cheap then placed a "want " ad for a ST400 tranny, got one the same day for $75 and the guy asked if I wanted some 401/425 heads and manifolds for a nailhead.......$40 more!........Picked up a truck load of Harley parts for $200, the truck was a '47 Ford, I asked if he had any wheels from it, ended up bringing home four 15" and two 16" early Ford wheels and hubcaps.Free! I could go on and on..................I love Craigslist too.

I'll be honest, i had no intention of using a parts truck and I was finalizing my list of parts I needed. I was planning to go to napa and buy all of this stuff new. So this should save me about $500 or so :D. I just happened to go on craigslist and look, the best part is it was about five minutes from my house. Pretty rare for me, I'm stoked about it. Oh yeah, I decoded the vin, it's a 77.

Dang, around here if you have scrap around your house they knock on the door and almost beg for the stuff. Me and my wife had some sheet tin we were fixing the roof with and I know af at least three times people stopped and asked about it.

I guess with steel prices skyrocketing it has helped. I keep tossing our cutoff pieces and scrap into the back of my Jeep truck, and every so often I will take a load to the scrap yard. I used to get maybe $12 for a load, but the last time I was shocked to get $ 55.:D On the other side, new tubing and flat stock is also way up. Dan just bought a stick of 2 1/4 inch round tubing for crossmembers and it was like $ 180.

I love it too.

I search Craigslist every day. I just bought this set of seats on Friday. They were recovered and put in a 38 Chevy hotrod and used one month. He then took them out and replaced them with leather seats. He died and his friend was selling them for his widow. $50. I couldn't believe it. I'll bet it cost $200 to recover them. I sat them in my truck and they look great. I can take the head rest off to bring them down below the window. I've also bought 2 350's and two grant wooden steering wheels off Craigslist. I hope to start "The Chop" tomorrow. Harleyboy

You need a trailer man, throw that sucker on the trailer, fill with junk from your yard (if your anything like the rest of us youll have plenty) and bring it down to the scrap yard.

Right now the price here is $160/ton. A mid 80s frontwheel drive junker (filled with junk) will pay about $300 :D It makes for a nice sat project and some extra project money (and the wife will apreaciate a cleaner yard) :)

Little does she know I come back with more than I leave with...
