I dunno man.... I think you take it way light.... I`d be really worried if a whole forum told me a wet tranny would blow me [S
and probably kill every nun and orphan (not to mention all those poor kittens)in a ten mile radius

ok
2 gallons of lucas 50w for the transmission/t/c
2 gallons 75-90 gl5 for the axles
and on friday i ordered

6 kwik sleeves
and 7 various seals for all these leaks
when everything gets here i will trailer the waggin to the mek-a-niks shop and turn him loose
i minor adjusted the brakes after replacing the stoplight switch and used speed bleeders.
and while i have a firm pedal with no need to pump anymore
i have to push it down farther than i want to (about 4 inches instead of the recommended 2)
succesfully installed the spotlight

BTW
rock auto carried every one of those parts for a fraction of the cost of anyone else
and yes i checked they are all timkin/national etc
i didnt think they would have em
but they did [cl

i will be painting it because i hate the billboard painted on the sides
and the flat paint lets dirt stick to it like glue
toying with this civil defense scheme

and i have GOT to get better mirrors!
zero rear visibility
this thing is a disaster waiting to happen.
been looking into rear cameras even but havent found anything yet

I like the tires, but I don't imagine they're the nicest on the road!

those non directional tires look cool
but they suck on dry or wet pavement/snow/mud/and everything else you can think of
but they are especially deadly on wet pavement
thats why i went with powerking super traction tires
period correct with great tread and even studdable

So basically.... They look cool and that's about it?

The dark Air Force blue looks good. The west coast style mirrors shouldn't be hard to find, look at big truck parts places. I think I would move the spare tire to one of the rear doors, it looks funky on the side, bet it makes it hard to get in and out, too.

I guess leaving the paint as and give it a good scrubbing is out [S

As Bama said, the tire/wheel weighs more than the door.

That tire wheel weighs as much as I do
That is why it is on a swing out mount
No door on this truck could handle the weight
The driver pulls a little lever and the tire swings out
Then opens the door
I think it is a cool gizmo

As far as the paint
I want to cover up the billboard on the side
And it will be hard to match the old paint exactly
So that means paint the whole thing

Hey Bill, unless you just want a color change, the graphics on the side will come off surprisingly easy. And with a little blending to the untouched area you probably won't be able to tell there was ever anything there.

While I was in a Army tank battalion we removed and changed insignias[graphics] quite a lot and painted tons and tons of tanks, jeeps, personnel carriers and recovery vehicles, etc. etc.. As far as matching the paint goes, OD Green is a piece of cake.

A lot cheaper than a color change and the OD looks to be in pretty good shape.

Now that you have my worthless personal opinion, Have fun with it whatever you do to it.

The undercarriage has decades of goop and while it has protected the metal
I am going to power wash it and paint everything gloss black
I like it clean down there
