I think it looks silly, however the Stude looks great. Think of the money saved by only stamping two fenders instead of four.

Brooks Stevens Museum in Milwaukee had a styling prototype Stude car that the left rear fender was the same as the right front and right rear same as left front. The doors were the same way( 4 door car). Not pretty.
