I know its cool to have an old american classic car or truck, but for a first car for a new and young driver its not very safe in my opinion. No safety equipment or engineering in them. The most important thing to me is my daughters safety and I am happy with the car she choose. Not american but pretty damn cool for a twenty year olds car and its as safe as any car out there.

rusty, I see your point. But, I my daughter is a little different, just like me. She doesn't want a Toyota or Nissan, or any other foriegn car. Not that I have to explain, but just for info purposes she will be driving this car to school which is all 45 mph limits. She knows that anytime she goes into town or on a trip she will be driving my truck. Don't want to get off topic, but does your Rat Rod have air bags? My daughter grew up without a Dad in her life until I married her Mother 5 years ago. This is one of those things we will always have together, and she is very excited about having an older car. It is 110 hp automatic, compared to a 300 hp , manual 6 speed sports car. I'll stick to the Corvair thanks.
