Looked at new bikes today

As in bicycles. Like $2200 for a decent mountain bike and on up to 7G for a competition one. I guess you can get a fairly good one around $1100 but the really cool ones had 29 inch wheels, disc brakes. I want.

That is exactly why you should stay away from such things. You can't put a V8 in a bicycle.
