hey
we just mounted our 55 international onto a 76 chev pickup frame
now we want to lower it about 8 inches.
any lowering tricks that you guys can pass on that don't include
spending a whack of cash

You can drop the rear end about 5 inches by just fliping the rear, that is mount it on top of the springs instead of under the springs the way it is from the factory.You can C-notch the frame for some clearance. 8 inches in front will be difficult cuz the front crossmember will be too low. But drop spindles will drop it 2.5 inches and cut one coil off the springs will get you 3 more inches.:D
 
Check out the link to my build in my signature. I documented everything I could and posted pics as well. At one point, I flipped the rear springs upside down just to see.
