Can individual coil/cylinder set up be done mechanically, if so how would you go about it?

i think it could be done if you set it up on the same principal as a a older fuel injection system using a trigger off the crank. (trigger wheel)
even if your running a carb, run a 12 volt power wire to each coil and use the trigger as a ground switch, of course following the firing order of the motor.
also when i was running a flying toilet alcohol set up on my small block chevy, back in the 80's, i used the crank trigger to fire each injector(thru the ground curc.) so i dont see why you couldnt use it on the same principal as that for your coil grounds. i hope this helps just a thought, george dp1

Yeah I was just wondering if you could use a trigger mechanism in place of the distributor. What got me thinking about this is Twin coils on a Harley and then seeing Trippers set up, opened the bag of worms all over again...............
