G'day everyone, I'm Michael and im 17 and live on the Gold Coast QLD Australia. Im keen on building a rat rod but parts are hard to come by cheap here and I don't have much money, was hoping maybe someone could point me in the right direction even just to find a body.

Welcome!

Michael,
Welcome to the forum... glad u found us! There are several guys here from down under & have posted pictures of several local shows. I suggest you use an old car that's avail in your area to make building something cheaper & kool too. Can you find any Ute's there... they make killer rats & we've seen some kool small trucks that would work too? Do you go to local car shows? Have you tried the local eBay? :D

Well I don't know of many car shows in my area and theyre usually based around drift drag or sex spec when there is one so theres nothing there, any bodies ive found on ebay around me are to pricey but I check regularly, im hoping to find a secret circle to do with rods on this site :)

Welcome to the RRR from the USA. I would post a question about bodies over there in the main forum, I think we have others from Australia on here. They should be able to help. Hope you enjoy the site and please join in on the discussions.

Welcome to RRR!

If you check some of the builds here, some of them didn't start out with much for a shell. As someone else said "if it's good from the door handles up, it's fixable". Good luck on your hunt!

Welcome from Canada, hope you enjoy the site and that it will be some help to you.
Tripper those are both pretty cool lookiing and no rust, they would be a great start.

Yeah I really don't like the Morris's, but i'm checking regularly to see what comes up. But alot that I find is actually quite far away, most Rods seem to be in Victoria which also makes it hard because I have no way to get them up here.

Sorry if I seem hard headed, thanks for your advice and the welcome, learning heaps already. I did find 2 1960 Jaguar Mark IX's, that I'm quite interested in, theres heaps of spares because theres 2 of them :) So I might go inspect them and see what I could do.

Thought you were interested in a rat rod, not real sure a '60 Jag would make a very good one! Good luck though.

Yeah I was considering making it a Lead Sled, but have decided to go back to the plan of a rat rod and also wait a while so I can learn more :) Thanks for your help once again guys.
