The block is a 79 MerCruiser (boat engine), The head is 64 Chevy Nova and the intake and exhaust is 78 Pontiac. The Iron Duke was used in alot of applications so I am still finding out. The Fiero version uses the crossflow head. Not desirable. It has been punched 30 over with flat tops.

I had one of these Iron Dukes in a boat I had once. When I rebuilt it I had a guy who did these for circle cars do the machine work. I think he did something like flattop 283 pistons, and a reground cam. That little sucker would haul in the 18 foot boat I had it in, and gas milage was fantastic. You almost couldn't kill them either.

beautiful isn't enough of a word.

The 70's look is great on that car and pulled off very nicely, especially with those colors and the gold leaf lettering. It's perfect I think.

Man...This is one very friendly place. It is refreshing to see the hot rod community all get along. Thanks for all the kudos.

You seem shocked,
You mean they arn't the same way on all msg boards...

You ought to check out the other forum we bash each other on. It is a porn site disguised as a car site according to members at another rat rod magazine site. This site is a refreshing change from the others, here and cartalkforum are the two sites I frequent now.
