for all you guys that are still running a 6 volt set up on your rats with the generators and all, but your still looking for a little more power when starting, you can switch out the stock 6 volt battery for a 8 volt battery. all the newer voltage regulators have a set charge point of about 8.75 volts which is more then whats needed for a 8 volt battery to charge. an 8 volt battery actually reads about 7.9 to 8 volts max. just a little pointer for everyone, an 8 volt battery is cheaper then swapping out all the 6 volt stuff for 12 volt and with an 8 volt, youll get a lil more spark from the ignition system. this also applies to tractors and other 6 volt positive systems.

Agreed, I have been running an eight volt in a restored Reo for a few years now....so far so good. I do notice that I have burned out a few headlights though.....small price to pay for it starting so easily.
