Hi, guess I'll start a build thread, I started building this in Jan. 2012 ?? right around there. I took some pictures so... I'll post what I have - when I can.
I had no luck finding a fair body so I was going to build a woody ( I'm a carpenter) but after buying a 29 durant cowl, grille shell, and a 41-48 ford front axle from a craigslist add, it all changed . I did a redneck mock up of a roadster pick-up and that got the wheels turnin -

the cab was extended a bit for some comfort- Model a trucks are not know for leg room- since this is a mutt it can be what ever I want, can't find any parts for it so.. I'll make what I can- this is 1"x 1" tube and some 3/4"x 2"
I'll try to use what I have or can find -metal panels will be made from all new material , easier that way

This was a very fun part of this project. I am not a metal guy - I'm a wood guy! time to step out of my zone and find a new one. I had a blast doin this.

more pictures, mounting the panels- the door skins are frome a model a ford and are 29-1/4" long - this gives the much needed leg room.
If someone needs more details ... just let me know.
I layed out an arch on a piece of plywood to get the right shape for the side, even had to spread the cowl a bit to get it to look right. you can see the skins were to short and I extended them some. the body molding will be welded on - 2x3/16" metal - next pics

Gotta say you transistioned into metal fab quite well-I do wood working too, the cool thing about metal is, if you screw it up it's a lot easier to fix than a piece of wood. Keep up the great work!!!

V- Windshield

Heres some pictures of the start of my windshield, this was the hardest project to date and still isn't done. it is finish welded outside but not inside. The inner posts were hammer formed. I also made all the glass channel. I left it all a little high, I can always trim it. I'll put a better picture of the inner parts later.

Like TF said, metal is a whole lot easier to fix than wood! I think my woodworking time helped me out too - the idea of measure twice, cut once.

Hi, yes -pick-up bed, I found a olds 455 for the motor. the frame will be custom built also. by me of course! the bedsides are done already, here is a sneak preview!! I'll go over that part soon.

Some pictures of a pair of 1914-16 National headlights that I found at a swap meet, I also found some 1940 ford front drum brakes (complete) and 4- 5 on 5-1/2" rims from a craiglist add in daytona beach. I'm still lookin for some old dash w/ gauges. I saw a 49-50 pontiac silver streak dash that I really wanted but the owner likes it more than me! Also inner windshield parts

Thanks guys, Guess I should save some pics cause- I haven't touched it in a couple weeks. You know - work , family, money, all the things you don't plan on . I also started my business back up ( construction) closed it in 2009- constuction in Florida was gone. Its just starting back... anyways, heres some pictures of the windshield. the next post will be making the bedsides similar to a 37 chevy
