Coming from hicktown USA, rebar made it's way into alot of repairs. Some broke some didn't and is still on the back forty to this day, I have seen rebar on cars that the only drive time was to the end of a field to a trailer. But then again I'm not posting about the rebar.

That is one bad a$$ Honda [cl[cl[cl Do you just run the ice or do you hit the 1/8 or 1/4 black top.

anyone ever bought a china made part? and it broke?

Unfortunately, yes, which only serves to increase my concerns about substandard materials.

goatsack, I have conducted my own experiments in much the same manner I asked you to try. In my experience, it was a hit-and-miss proposition where some pieces failed miserably and others passed with flying colors. Inconsistent results from a known inconsistent material. As you demonstrated earlier, materials that meet spec for their intended use can fail. For those reasons, I cannot be convinced that rebar is a wise choice and I will leave it at that.

I have no interest in attacking your work or anybody else's for that matter. I applaud an innovative approach to any project, and my criticism is meant to be constructive.

Moving forward, I also noticed the Predator carbs which always intrigued me. Hmmm.... "out of the box" thinking without leaving the box. :D

I run 1/8 mile on ice & 1/4 mile on pavement. One extreme to the other, 0°F on ice to 90°F+ at the track in July! I like the 0°F better.

I noticed the hobbyist plates. What's your state reg on them plates. Don't mean to get off track on your thread but in Colorado we don't have a hobbist class.

i could easily see the comments coming to a H.A.M.B. conversation!! saddens me that this forum is becoming like that site becuz of a few ! but what do i know,, im just a back yard hack!:cool:

Rev,
I am inclined to disagree with this. RRR is far from the hamb, and i really don't think were even close to headed that direction and i actually take some offense to that comment. I have spent TONS of time on alot of different boards, yet i still return to RRR. The reason for that is because if i make a mistake, i am not belittled and made to be less of a person here. I am given constructive criticism from all who are looking out for everyone's safety.
I would be interested in seeing this same build thread posted on the hamb. Id be willing to bet that the thread would be deleted within 10 minutes.

I am removing myself from the Rebar debate, because there has been plenty of good points, and i think supergoatsack is educated enough to make his own decisions on his car.

I was told a ton of times I could not put a Mopar 440 in a Honda Civic & if I did it would be a death trap! It's done & drive/launches straight. It runs low 11's in the 1/4 and 125+ mph, drives like a dream.

I think you are cheating here........ I bet the nay sayers telling you you cant out a 440 in a Honda were referring to the fact that no original Honda chassis could hole up to those loads. What you have there is not a Honda with a 440..........its a MONSTER with a Honda skin.
:D The name Hannibal Lecter comes to mind.
I would LOVE to see that thing run on the track!!!

Slow but sure lately! Trans lines, brake lines, and WIRING!! Nothing worthy of pics. I did pick up another 440/727 to add to my collection of big block Mopar motors!! A guy can never have enough of those around!

Wiring is done! Dash is done! Motor is assembled! Hope to fire it up this weekend!

i have been a machinist for most of my life (51 years) and a ironworker/fabricator for about 30 years and do this stuff almost everyday. that is not the stuff to use, your talking about using weldable rebar for your stuff and i can tell you first hand the 1.5" and 2" will break, we have done it, it doesn't matter which rebar you use it is trash metal. go to your local foundry and watch what they use to make the stuff. all in all it is your car, and we as a group just find it hard to see anyone doing something that is unsafe it would be like making bolts out of tool steel. best of luck on your build and i love the ford/chevy mix.

The Predator carbs are way cool. Are you experienced with them? Looks like you stuffed a cam in the engine based on the notches in the pistons.

I have played with Predator carbs some before. They are supposed to work good on tunnelrams. I put a "old school" Clay Smith cam in. It's low lift long duration, so it'll be easy on valve train. I milled .125 off a newer set of open chamber heads to get them to be a closed chamber, that's why I needed the valve reliefs.

So what your saying is this thing should move when its all done?!?! How many gallons per mile you planning on getting out of this when your done? Especially with those toilet bowls on top? What do you expect your compression to be after taking so much off those heads?

Pics with my buddies zoomies.
