Here is my first pics of the project. I am putting my 1947 ford cab and bed on my 87 s10 frame. I will be using the s10 engine and all the parts. I am debating on how i want to lower it and if i want to chop the top. We will see how it goes. But i wanted to at least start a build thread.

I think im going to like my 4" chop ,, its low enough to look chopped but not enough you cant see a traffic light , and with the seat top about 5 or 6 inches from the floor you dont have to bend your head down to look out the window ... and the arm out the window looks good too .. but thats just me :D

the best way to test a chop is to tape up some card board to see how it will look from the inside ,looking out ..

For sure im just not sure i want to buy all new glass or how much that is going to be. I will be adding pics when i get to my pc also.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

My '39 is sitting on an s10 chassis. I've learned a few things. :D Some the hard way.

  1. You can get the chassis level by just adding 3-inch lowering blocks in the back.
  2. Your gas tank might get in the way.
  3. The cab has to sit further back for the front wheels to fit in the wheel openings in the fenders.
  4. You will need to stretch the steering intermediate shaft. (save the old one, you will need it for parts, when you stretch the AstroVan intermediate shaft.)
  5. If the frame is wider than your cab at the front, I have an idea.
  6. You can get it way lower than stock without channeling it.
  7. When you cut off the frame horns, don't cut off too much. Its a pain to put back.
  8. If you don't already have sway bars front and back, get them, and put the front one on before you trim the frame head. A 4-door Blazer is a good donor for these. You'll be able to corner like a Vette.
  9. You will have lots of room for big wide tires in the back.
  10. 8.5x15 (or similar) rims will fit up front if you don't go too tall.
I am assuming you are going full fender.
Glass is expensive. Getting yours cut might not be quite as bad.
Have fun!

Here are the pictures. Thank you for all the info i am going fenderless and i most likely wont chop my top. I havent figured that out yet. I was thinking about bagging it but i might just go with the 3 in blocks the problem is i have a 4x4 frame and it sits a little higher then i would like so that is why i am really thinking of putting bags on it.

The 4x4 frame does offer a different set of challenges. [S If you were looking, I would recommend against. As you already have it and are using the whole system, it will be interesting to see how you work the details out.

Once the "new" body is on the frame it may surprise you how much lower it looks. With that extended cab frame, a full fender set-up will be an easier fit than the shorty I am working with. I know, you said fenderless, but you may change your mind. Don't trash the spare parts; they look pretty good.

This should be fun! :D

have been doing a bunch to get this ready sorry i havent posted in a while. But i cut the frame up a little and got the truck to fit on the frame. I have also dropped the truck a little over the frame rails. Not much since i am working with a 4wd Truck and everything is in the way. I also have started making my floor and will most likely finish my floor today or close to it. I just got my rims and tires back today also, so i might throw them on today. I need my suspension to come in soon so i can put a 3in drop on it then do all the wiring which isnt very fun ha ha ha. Other then that i am hoping to be starting it up in the next few weeks and go from there.

Thanks You i wanted to be one of a kind ha ha ha. The 4x4 Dont work in it so It is going to be a regular 2WD truck but im sure i could make the 4WD work if i wanted ha ha ha

Got some of my floor done as you can see i ran out of Welding gas which sucked. I think i am actually going to rino line it. I also got my rims and tires put on today which was exciting. They are a olive drab green and i have a few different Army items i am going to mix in with it. I was thinking of going 1 of 2 different ways kinda like a army style with a few twist or a horror style.

nice

like the looks of this build. gotten the juices flowing.... lookin for an s10 to add to the future project list for myself... man my wife isnt gonna let me on here anymore!

Nice truck. The s10 frame is so versital. Interesting to see a 4 wheel drive one used. Looks good. You should get the 4 wheel drive working. You never know if you might need it.

I decided to chop my bed a little bit to make it alot shorter and i am trying out the hood. I think it looks pretty good there But i would have to cut it to fit the radiator so trying to decide on that. Got a bunch of my bed done i am going to finish up the metal and rino line the bed. I am also going to rino line the floor of the car. Cover all the welds and metal.

Did something exploded or spray all over your floor and on the side of the truck? I couldn't help but notice the pig mats on the floor. Bed is looking good. You got some serious reinforcement in the bed floor!

Yea a bop off oil rigs sprayed hydralic oil everywhere. Thanks im pretty excited. I wanted to make sure the bed didnt cave in and it was the best way for me to make the bed solid. With all the rust.
