Okay I had a '27 Model T and the floor was complete and then I came across a '31 Model A that was in such good shape I decided to use it instead. Now my T floor looked pretty good for a first time but I didn't really like how the back end was done. It was plenty strong and worked fine but it didn't attach at the sides very well. I guess what I'm looking for is pictures of how you guys did your sub floor and then tied in the sheet metal, I think I know what I have to do but I would like to see other ideas.
The pictures are my T and then my new A. Oh yea, I spent 4 hours reversing my firewall only to realize that I'll have to cut off my brake mount or put it back the way it was:mad:.

Thanks,
Sean

I'll see if I can dig through some of my old build pics showing my floor being welded to the subframe. And just so you know, that model A sedan you pictured is a 30 or 31. It's not a 32.

Thanks for the comments, the T is for sale, I need the room!! I was getting so close but I had originally wanted a Model A and this one came up for $800 delivered into my garage. Even brought his two sons so I just had to tell them where to put it. I sold about $500 worth of parts, so I'm only into it for $300. There, now I justified it to myself again.:D
Not many buyers up here in Calgary, just a lot of tire kickers, or metal kickers I guess.

Thanks Gastrick it's actually a '31, I was on the internet for way too long last night looking for pictures, I fixed it.

It's left hand drive but I pulled the firewall out and the hood off to cut out the gas tank and clean up and prime all the mating surfaces. Then I put the firewall in backwards to give the engine more room because the body is a bit longer than the T. I think it looks cool but now I would have to change my brake pedal mount and it's actually the rear section that is longer so I think I'll put it back to normal.

I haven't posted for a while, been working too much.

Had to turn the firewall back around to line up with my frame tabs, M/C, and such. Don't really need room for the engine anyway. I've just been working away at the sub floor, decided to go with a console down the middle instead of just a tunnel. I'm just starting to sheet it now. I wanted a solid tie in to the firewall so I put some 1/8" plate around the front, really sturdy now.
Can't really finish until I get my rear axle mounted. I got the Ford 9" off an '86 F150, it's 57" wide so it should work a little better. I decided I didn't want to make new control arms so I just ordered a triangulated four bar kit from these guys:

http://suicidedoors.com/HeavyDutyUni...4-LinkKit.php#

Kinda steep but seems like the going rate and I can cut these to whatever length I want.

I also ended up with a lot more room in the rear so I got a 17 Gal. RCI aluminum fuel cell. Comes with all the AN fittings and filler spout. I'm gonna try to mount it off to one side and I think I'll have enough room for the battery beside it (hope).

Oh yea I spent about 5 hours stripping out the old wood and boxing the pillers. That stuff is F'en hard to remove.

Looks good Sean. I like the console idea, it will act like a spine down the middle to strengthen the body.

You are going to love your stuff from Suicide Doors.........their products are all top shelf. I have their triangulated three bar rear suspension in my truck, and Dan used some of their pieces in an S10 he had. Nice people too.

You are smokin' right along...........keep it up. :):)

Thanks guys, Yea Don I remembered you talking about them a while back so I went through the old posts to find the link. It seemed really easy to order but shipping is pretty expensive (@$90). I'm gonna have to ask around about the proper way to weld in the threaded bungs.

Hopefully get some more of the floor done today, I'll post later.

Thought I'd get some more done today before I go back to work. I was just gonna do some grinding on the tunnel but I hate grinding so I found something else:D. I wanted to get the hardest part of the floor done and I ended up doing both sides cause my cut out for the first was so close I just had to trim a bit and cut out the front section.

Then I was on a roll so I finished the tunnel, added a 1/8" plate to mount the E-brake to and then put in the adjuster mount. I also cut some chain links in half and welded them in to route my brake cables through. I cut out a section of the tunnel by my feet and reversed the curve so now there's lots of room for my feet. I'm gonna add an access panel to get at my shifter linkage, my master cylinder, and to remove my brake pedal. Found out the hard way on my T that the brake pedal doesn't flex:D.

Well now I have a lot more grinding ........what else can I do? Hopefully my control arm kit shows up next week and I can close this rear end up.

I think I'll tackle the roof panel next week, does anyone have a picture of how the windshield mounts? I want to add some bracing to the top but I don't want to interfear with the mounts.

Got my roof chop done and just about everything else done preparing to get the body blasted and start doing the paint prep.

I didn't like my seats so I made some new ones and attached some seat rails I made.
