hey brett glad you like it. yeah i took the skull off it came off in 2 pieces lots of bondo used to hold it on, the whole hood is full of mudd so im on the lookout for a new one in better shape.dp1
 
Ya Im sure that the car has a lot of filler on it. But ya It looks sweet. Im glad you are getting som use out of it. So how are the parts coming along?

hey brett your grille is bare and i started welding in the frenched buckets for the turn signals today, got the dash down to bare metal. gonna fill some of the holes in it this weekend. will post pics on your build page or send em to ya this weekend, heres one of the door panels i cleaned up and mounted it to a new backboard i made out of 1/8th inch hardwood used the old one for a pattern. dp1

added DUAL HIGHBEAMS tothe toad

yeah i went and did it i added new headlites to the toad!

i know everytime one of you guys saw those ol horns thats exactly what you thought too!

gives a whole new meaning to a place to hang ur keys dont it! dp1

paint

thanks, the pinstripes and outlines are done with one shot, the letters (tijuana toad), frog bodies, and xtra headlites, are done with base/coat, clear/coat ppg. thru and airbrush.
 
top treatment

well i was board over the long weekend...so in the garage i went.

first scuffed, then on with the primer, and ppg brilliance silver, then after a few hours in the sun, applied some fine line and wider masking tape.

taped off and started airbrushing, when you do this you spray dirrectly at the taped lines this gives the highest concentration of paint near the tapes edge and a gradual fade off to your underlying color when the tape is removed.

the same goes for the stencil used for the scales, aim your spray pattern dirrectly at the edge of your template, be carefull not to touch the car with the edge after using it or it will leave a paint mark from the accumulated paint on the edge of your template.

couldnt fine any lace table clothes to ruin, so i made a design from the edge of another piece of carboard and did whats called sunbeams. on the center 2 panels

an older trick was called, "lacing", to use an old table cloth and lay it over your desired panel, then spray a fine mist thru the table cloth onto the roof, leaving a imprint on the car from the pattern. an airbrush requires paint to be thinned out alot to allow it to spray thru, so the paint is pretty much dry when applied.

finished up airbrushing and let it dry a few then started peeling tape...

next gave it a couple coats of clear.. and pretty much done. dp1
