I'm a very private person and rather shy, but I'm going to tell you all about my health issues because your my buddies and maybe you guys over 50 that don't bother with annual checkups will take my advice and do it, sooner the better.
I do annual checkups which includes blood work mostly cuz I have hyper thyroid that needs dailey meds to keep it straight. Thyroid problems is no big deal if ya keep track of it.
Well the blood work includes checking colesterol & any unusual changes in PSA. My PSA jumped last year from 0.1 to 4.1 so my GP says I need to go to a Urologist for a closer look. Now guys it don't get no more personal than this. The urolodist looks at your private parts and sticks his fingers, and other things in very embarrassing places. He tells me he wants to do a biopsy on my prostrate. That done he tells me I got prostrate cancer but it's not serious. Ya gota be kiddin Me?? ..He says we caught it early and it is a very small spot so we don't have to do anything but keep a eye on it case it gets worse. Hey I'm thinkin it can only get worse so lets fix it. I had 3 options. Surgically remove the prostrate, [serious deal with long recovery time] or zap it with radiation treatments that can go on for weeks with dailey visits to the radiologist and can even cause radiation damage to other parts with long lasting & troubling results.
Third opton is do whats called radio active implants in the prostate with short recovery time and a very good success rate. So thats what I did last Nov. 18,. I'm still alittle sore and taking it easy cuz I do need to go back to work some day soon. After all the docs want to get paid.
I aint done whinning yet, I wear glasses and have my eyes checked annually so I did that Tues. and the eye doc says "u got macular degeneration" [oh happy days, when it rains it poors] He sends me to a specialist that tells me we caught it early and may be able to save you eyesight. He does hitech exam including digital photo of my eyes. My right eye has what is called wet macular dengeneration and he will give me a series of injections in my eye and we'll hope [and pray] for good results. First shot was yesterday and I'm here to tell you my eye was very sore all night but feels better today.
That's it guys, I'm going to live alittle longer, may even finish my other project and maybe ride a Harley again...:D

Don't ya know motorcycles will kill ya!? Seriously - always good to hear tales that work out well. Thanks for sharing the words of warning. Hope the eye problem gets worked out for you too.

Be honest, that pic was taken when the doc has his hand up your ass, wasn't it? :D

Seriously, good news that you caught it so quick, perfect chance of recovery.

Sorry to hear that Fuzz but stay off that Harley! When my Dad went in for prostrate surgery.. ever the jokester... he asked the Doc to lengthen his stroke while he was at it!!! :D

Thinking and praying for you FUZZ, I'm one of those who won't go to the doc.
and may pay for it some day! It's just that I don't like or trust them!
Saw may Dad and Mom put through all kinds of stuff under their hands
and swore I wouldn't do that!!
I may feel different someday, but right now NO!!
Good Luck hope you're better soon!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Fuzz....glad they caught the cancer early!!!. Hang in there buddy. I believe things will only get better for ya......cr

Fuzz, hoping for a speedy and complete recovery for you. Your Preventive Maintenance program is going pretty well as you are catching these things early.

Also, I know now why you are called Fuzz.:D

Thank you all for the prayer....
Tripper...guess I should have told my doc the same since right now it appears to have had the opposite effect!!..

Rainman..it is VERY difficult to trust the docs, you must trust them with your life. I think I made the right choice this time but if I don't heal completely I may not trust them again.

Bob w.. you the man..:D

King Herald..here's one you can use for your desktop wallpaper..[cl

I'm glad to hear that you are good about getting check ups. My father in law, who I think of as my real dad, had the same procedure you had - the radiation implants. They worked exactly as the doctors said and he has been clear for a few years now. You should be all set after this round of implants. But I'll be praying for you just the same.
