Marvin is the man when it comes to 8N Fords..He built/owns one with a Jet Turbine engine:eek: He owns the worlds slowest, thru gear reduction that moves less than a foot per hour, along with the Chevy,Ford and Chrysler V8 powerd ones..Think he has several V8 flattie powered ones too....thanks for the pics

Those are very cool. My Dad woulda had a fit for him 'ruining' those tractors. By looking in the background, I coulda spent a couple hours there. Any more pics of the other stuff?

The V-8 Ford N's are factory built. Now the valve covers have been swapped out for the chrome ones.Ford built a limited run of the V-8 version. Truly a collector tractor. Now I just don't know much about the F-14 version with the jet fuellie. Ole Henry was hold'n out on us!LOL

Thanks for the pics! Looked like a nice show.

Apparently that was an old generator to run a town. Guy said it was close to 25 tons!

I never knew that.......... interesting...............

Great pics!! Thanks for sharing. There were a bunch of 8Ns with flathead V8s. They were converted by a company (can't remember the name) back in the day. Some were converted to flathead sixes, just saw one at a yard sale last week. Many of them were used for airport tugs.
The interesting thing is how populate those old 9N. 2N and 8N tractors are. I've owned a few and they really aren't very good tractors, just a lot of them around because they were cheap. The gearing is awful, first is too fast for half the stuff you want to do and the ground driven PTO is a pain in rear. I still have a 640 which was just an updated version with overhead valves and a few updates.

the farm I worked for a few years ago had an 8n. I didn't think they were so bad depending on what you were trying to do with it. All we really did with it was use it to clean the feed lot (concrete lot for the cattle to walk on). It had a back blade on it and we pulled that over the concrete to clean up all the manure and pushed it into a pile. Worked good for that. Other than that we would use it to drag wagons and trailers around and that was about it. I saw one pull a two bottom plow with one once and it struggled. But then again I have never seen anything pull a plow and not struggle. They make good lawn mowers too.

They are a very popular tractor though. Maybe that is just because they are small and affordable. I see a lot of them around being used just as a show piece or light duty house work.
