Now that you are doing such a fine job posting, Lee, I won't need to come over all the time and get in your way.:D

Nice work on the tubs, and everything else, Terry.[;)

V8square, the tires and wheels are hoosier drag radial P275/60R 15 8 x 15 Wheel and 4 inch back space. The wheels are "smoothies" from Coker tire. The metal the tubs are made of is 18ga. cold roll.
Bob, Nooooo, we want to see your shining face often, and you are never in the way, always glad to see you. We've been lurkers on here since 2008 and now will have 25 posts, can sell something now!

After finishing a Henry J and selling it, Terry & Lee found this rust free VW on the local Craigslist.

Correction: The title is supposed to be V8 Volks by T & L. Can't be changed now.

I can't wait to follow this one Bob & also changed the title for u!

BoB

Nice looking Dub tubs! Glad I am not the only one building a car that size tire on it looks huge! looking good [P

Well, we ordered all sorts of parts from speedway, got them Wednesday. Put the headers on the motor and got the motor and transmission in the hole for fitment. The motor is pretty high in the cavity, but is going to fit in really nice with just a little tweeking of the oil pan. The hood fits back on without a hood scoop, so the car will be a nice "sleeper". Lots of room, I think, for the raditor and the steering box, which will be front steer. Transmission mount was pretty easy, and the drive shaft lines up very nicely with a slight cut to the top of the rear brace. The gas tank is perfect, 12 gallon poly, which will have a gas gauge put in later. Good progress.

Wow! Love your bug. This one is great. I was scratching my head wondering where you were going to put the gas tank with all that engine up front. DOH! Lots of room in the back now. LOL. Years ago I saw Bugzilla at the Klamath Kruise, in Klanath Falls, OR. It had a blow bigblock punched out through the hood. I love you stock look. Very cool ride.

more progress today, we got the oil pan dished for clearance on the axel. Seems like not much but it is about 1 inch deep, but still just touching the windage tray. Got the steering box mounted and the radiator in spot, every thing clears, the steering on the suspension, and the radiator on the hood. Made the mounting bracket for the radiator, got to weld them in tomarrow.

Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together.[cl All work is top notch. You should drive this one a while before it goes down the road.

What's your plan for directing air flow up to the radiator with the solid hood in front of it?

McGiver, we are going to put some kind of either perforated metal or cut slots in the hood, or make some kind of grill. Don't want to do louvers, don't perticularly like them. Still trying to decide what type of "suttle" application for that.
Bob, if we do take it for a ride, it will need snow tires. Looks like were going to get it done way faster than the "winter project" should be. Could be bored in January........

If you get bored, I have junk you can work on...:p

Last year's experience building the Henry J I think helped speed up the process on the VW.

Lots of other projects on Craigslist. (hint, hint)

We have been working right along, haven't had time to post. We got the firewall done, steering column complete, brake pedal and master cylinder installed, altenator bracket fabed to fit under the hood (needed to flip the altenator upside-down to clear the hood), fabed a metal glove box and welded it in so we now have room to put the battery in front of it in the motor compartment. Now we are moving inside the car, we got a couple of floor boards fabed today and welded in, transmission tunnel next.
