I don't call it anything, and it pretty much minds it's own business. It is black, but there is a lot of steel showing. I am still working on the color. I should have it in a day or two.

it kind of looked like a wood grain...wasn't trying to be a smart a$$..thought you might be going for a certain look other than straight up paint....no offense meant....

No offense taken, it is a weird color, and not straight up paint, by any means. I'll get an outdoor daytime picture tomarrow.

All this is looking great.

I always have a terrible time with lighting when trying to apply a finish, especially when it isn't a straight up color. It looks way different in the shop under the fluorescent lights than outside. Outside, I either have sunlight shining on it or I'm looking into the sunlight and there's no light on it. Wouldn't it be nice to have a lighted paint booth?

How are you applying the color - or lack of color?

You are not going to believe it, but I invented a paint roller to start the process, beyond that, it is a trade secret.

OK, I'll trade. Use Golden's Artist's Acrylic paint because it's UV inhibited. Stainless Steel Fine (it's a color) rubbed very lightly will pop out the highlights and details and create those shiny steel edges.

Okay, but keep this under your hat.
I thought about something like that but was afraid it would look forced. So, I made a roller that would skip roll, oil spots on the clean metal. From there I used an enamel paint, let it dry and took a layer back off, then a clear coat. But I have since changed my plan a little. We will see what the next version comes out looking like.

I know, I know, 'bout time! After tons of stair railing and park benches, and a semi truck load of furniture, I finally got back on this build. I am about to finish the second header, so I took a break to show you guys where I am.

Welded the inside near the bolts, and outside everywhere else.
