So… I picked up this old “doodle bug” to turn into a dirt track roadster. If you never heard of a doodle bug, they are usually a model T or A turned into a tractor or working tool on a farm during WW2 when tractors were hard to get. Here in Pa they used to be in every back corner of a field or in a woods line rotting away. This one basically runs and drives and other than a tractor seat and a bunch of metal welded all over it is still a model A. I also have two roadster quarters in very rough shape, a 28 hood and rad… lastly a couple of doors and a cool louvered trunk lid. I also have some 1x1 tubing, a bunch of sheet metal, and an old race seat and not a lot of high hopes. 😂

Paint job done by my professional painter… my son with a roller 😂

I still need to add removable headlights and single tail light so they don’t get destroyed by stones and debris on the track. I would like to figure out something so I could also drive it on the road. I do have a title and antique tags for it so it would actually be legal here in PA. Looking forward to next spring to have some fun and see how she does.

Doodlebugs. My dad talked about one that a local farmer had (in western Oklahoma). They had connected a second transmission behind the first one, only reversed. That gave them (if I'm not confusing myself, with what little I can remember of it) some really low range gearing, in both forward and reverse.

a bit off subject but i live in Pa also and made a rat rod 28/29 tudor sedan and need help with a title. Was wondering if You or perhaps another reader could help.. Nice transformation by the way..
