    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Thanks guys! We put a "Lincoln Locker" on the Model A banjo, as in welded spider gears. ;) Wheel/tire sizes and treads are limited, so we'll see how she eats!

    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Been a second since i checked in, but we have been thrashing away! Got all the machine work done on the engine and it is reassembled. Wound up at .30 over to clean up the bores. Custom cam re-grind by Isky, and a home brew port & polish job, and hopefully spitting fire soon! We we had to have...

    Identification help

Ahhh one of those "someone told him" guys. Spoiler alert: He's going to be sadly disappointed by the "what someone will actually pay" reality...

    Suspension Travel

I don't think, I know. The weight of a complete vehicle coupled with a working suspension will bend a flat piece of 3/8 plate like BUTTER. Scale it down for an example - Take a flat strip of sheet metal in your hands. Bends pretty easy on the flat right? Now turn it up vertical and try to...

    Suspension Travel

The other problem I am seeing here is the perch design. Where the spring mounts is just a flat piece of plate, and presents a major weak point. The way it is currently constructed will flex under normal driving conditions, and then it will break. Remember, the entire weight of the front half...

    Suspension Travel

Ooooh... No worky. Honest advice? Keep your juice spindles and go to a spring over or spring behind axle setup. Those later setups just aren't meant to be used like that. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that's a no go...

Too much time on your hands?

That thing just won't die...

    4bar radius rods

And still ugly. :D I can certainly appreciate improvements, but they have to be actual improvements - not novelty ideas that don't deliver. I have driven a bunch of 4 bar cars, and there was little to no improvement over a properly adjusted wishbone or radius rod setup (admittedly none with...

    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Got the reground cam back from Isky. +7 degrees duration, +.002 lift over stock. [ddd

    4bar radius rods

Four bar front? Disc brakes? Airbags? You're calling the wrong guy. Let me know when it's a hot rod question. ;)

    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Another work session in yesterday, but not much that was photo-worthy. :p The roll bar was approved for TROG so we finish welded it. Got the front lever shocks sorted out. Picked up the plasma-cut flanges for the custom 3 carb intake and lakes style exhaust header we are building. Started...

    It's monkey time!!!

It's funny - I've never met a heavily tattooed person who cared in the least if anyone else was tattooed or not, or thought less of anyone without tattoos because of that simple fact, but met a whole lot who are quick to judge someone because of their interests or the way they look. I've spent...

    A penetrating oil tip!

It's the only thing that freed up the stuck torsion bar adjusters on my '58. Keep a squirt bottle full in the shop at all times!

    Drum brake problem!

This can be a unknown source of severe frustration when dealing with rear brakes! Even a hose that looks OK on the outside can be deteriorated internally, and allow severe fluctuations in pressure. If there is any question whatsoever, replace it. Cheap insurance...

    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Thanks, and that's not my biggest one! Haha. Years spent as a truck equipment mechanic netted me some big tools... :p

    Studebaker-powered TROG build

Sunday’s work session got the wishbones on both ends anchored, steering arms modified, rear lever shocks adapted, seat mounted and roll bar mocked up. Chugging along on all this while the engine is at the machine shop. Forward progress!

    Wiring and fuse help please

Glad to see everyone suggesting a new harness. Sage advice! Better to spend some money and have a reliable car you don't have to worry about getting you home, or worse yet winding up as a car-B-Q.
  19. Blue Eyed Devil

What gauge tubing for floor frame

A properly formed sheet metal floor or tunnel doesn't require a tubing "frame". I see a lot of builds waste often-precious space with a bunch of intricate framework that is completely unnecessary.
