    Inline filter problem

Yeah, I've got a full size spin on for it, I plan to put up front between the regulator and carb. I just wanted the extra protection for the pump for a while. The tank should be clean now after four tank fulls.

    72 350 Rocket

The '72 is the last of the non-smog 350s. It's got smaller combustion chambers and slightly bigger intake valves than the '73-up. They stuck cat converters on in '73. And it's possible it may have hardened valve seats already in it. Something to do with the casting numbers. My remember isn't...

    Inline filter problem

Just a heads up on a possible problem. I have a ⅜" Wix inline filter mounted between the tank and fuel pump just in case I didn't get the tank washed out real good. The other day, I was out running around town, when the Ghia acted like it was running out of gas. It finally stopped and on...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Got the glass packs welded in and they do a fair job at cutting the noise level down. It's a deeper and slightly less annoying sound now. It'll have to do. Fine by me if the local law doesn't give me any trouble. I haven't passed one yet but, I will. And I did a little paint change on the lower...

    Classic Daily Drivers

I don't know if you'd call it a classic but, it's my old Toyota p.u. '85. I just had to put a tranny in it after 315,000 miles. Last job was about 45 minutes, 30 miles each way. It still makes 25 mpg.

    "Don't Know" Build start

I got a good start on the exhaust again. Took the new glass packs, measured out where they are going to fit and cut the pipes. I was going to attempt to weld them up but, the power pole out at my Dads' place broke and I had to wait around for the light company to show up. That's all.

    Need throttle cable and pedal?

I used a '75 Cutlass pedal and cable. A bunch of vehicles used simple pedal and cables. Look around. You'll find one that'll work. Good luck.

    "Don't Know" Build start

Took a little twenty miles each way run today and it all worked fairly good. The ground on the fuel pump became ungrounded once, and I had to clean that up. And had to get a jump to start the 429. I thought maybe the timing was bumped up too much but, after turning that back, still turned over...

junk yard cooling fan?? best donor car

I'm using a two speed fan from a '94 Volvo 760 5 cylinder. Got it rigged to run on low speed until engine hits 190 then the high speed relay kicks in. So far, the 429 running thru a '87 Dodge truck radiator, hasn't kicked in the high speed. Stays right at 180. I had to cross-breed the fan with a...

    Header welding clamp

Good tip, dj3100. I used a variation of it today. Worked great. Thanks.

    "Don't Know" Build start

I didn't get the bottoms cut like I wanted but, they'll be ok for now. I had an idea on side pipe inserts that actually worked. (sort of) I used the 3" exhaust leftover for a past project, drilled 5/32" holes in it, welded it to my street hookups, using dj3100's clamp suggestion, and put that...

    Power steering question

I've done a lot of engine swaps,(different brand engines) and so far, haven't ran into a problem with the pressures being wrong. Right now, on my Ghia, I'm using a '98 Escort rack and pinion with a '70 Merc pump. Works great. As far as fittings, I usually use the original ends off of both...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Well, not working really put a crimp in the project. But, I went ahead and got two new tires for the front, anyway. I couldn't find any different rims, so I used what I had. Then, had to rethink and redo the fenders. I got one done except for trimming the bottom off and reshaping the top a...

    "Don't Know" Build start

One fender is almost done. A person would think that if I mirror this side, it would fit the other side. So, I think I'll just start over on the driver's side. I tried bending this flat bar, without heat, and it didn't work out very good. So, I cut and welded. I tried to make this fender so when...

More than junk, a pickers philosiphy

Good thinking Willowbilly3. There's an older guy,(70s), around here that I gave some scrap metal to, the other day. When he came to get it, he just couldn't quit asking things about my Ghia. He finally said that he'd done a lot of hot rodding when he was growing up out in California. Built them...

    "Don't Know" Build start

I finally got started on the fenders. The 2" X quarter flat bar I found is a little too much to bend without a torch. So, I'll just cut and weld. I got 7/16" cold roll to go on the back of the brake backing plate. Put longer bolts in the two rear mounting holes but, had to drill a hole for the...

    FrankenBug

Lookin good!! What you going to do about seat height with the frame rail in there? You've got a little more headroom with the Bug than I do with the Ghia. It loks kind of tight. I still loose my hat every time I get in mine. Once in, there's plenty of head room. Keep up the good work.

    Show Me The Parts

Can be useful at times for identifying items or maybe for crossover. www.showmetheparts.com I spent about an hour playing on it this evening.

    "Don't Know" Build start

I finally got some material to mount the front fenders. We'll have to see how that plays out. I've got a fairly good idea on how I want them to go but, I won't know how it's going to work, until I get started on it. And on the side pipes: I'm ordering a couple of 3½" glass packs, that have an...
