I don't think I made this one up, but I can't remember where or if it came from. It works so well it's worth showing.
Leave one clamp loose and you can swivel the joint. Keep both clamps tight and they lock together with space to tack weld.

And a large worm drive clamp will hold a bundle. This is actually 2 clamps

The clips are 18 ga. A v block, piece of angle iron, or even a sand bag can be used as back up. Hammer a piece of heavy wall tube or solid bar to create the radius.
