Well that goes to show truth is stranger than fiction. I had to choose between the Super Bee and a 23 T when composing the poem. I hope the members here got a teeny bit of enjoyment out of it. Your story is the topper.

A Christmas Poem On the first day of Christmas my Daddy bought for me. A 1969 Dodge Super Bee. On the Second day of Christmas my Daddy got for me. Two Holley carbs sucking. And a 1969 Dodge Super Bee. On the third day of Christmas my Daddy got for me. Three gallons of anti freeze thawing. And...

    I'm Gonna Build A Dragster!

Good advice BN. I just fillet welded the tubes to the header/intake flange. Thin metal to thick metal. I'm pretty sure I didn't get enough penetration into the flange. Your suggestion to add some brass reinforcement is good.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

The trans cover is done. Lots of welding and some grinding ahead. Now on to the tailgate. It was wood. Along with the dozen pieces of iron pictured.

Now using the shelves to make the transmission cover. It is removable. Framed with 1/8 by 1 strap with 1/8 rod establishing the flat panels. Only the hard part remains.

I Stepped out of the shop into the dark. Off in the distance a heard a coyote bark. The night time animals were on the prowl. From the tree line came an eerie howl. I've heard it before. For the little creatures a rough night was in store. Looking at the vastness of the sky. Couldn't help but...

Time to put a floor in. I split a well casing for the driveshaft tunnel. No sheet metal left so I went on a scavenger hunt and took the doors off a shelving unit in the basement. Not done but here's progress report.

This is an attempt to post pics directly from my phone. Here's the booth I am going to try to make a seat for the truck out of.

    Big Block Bantam

I have the problem on three different cars. Like you, smallfoot, I never had a problem for decades. Never shimmed a starter before. Trouble is, shimming both bolts moves the starter farther away for less gear mesh. A starter shop sold a modified snout to me and it worked. They're out of business...

Back working on the Dodge. I can't get pictures to download to my computer so I won't be posting much until I get that solved. I am working on it though. Built body mounts that tilt the cab forward 2". Now mounting the box sides. I bought a cafe booth with nice upholstery for 50 bucks. Will make...

    Big Block Bantam

I shimmed the outer bolt of the starter 1/8" to get better gear engagement. It worked. The little guy is in storage until spring. Should be ready to go.

Welcome to the site. Got ya beat, I'm 83. Bonehead is an excellent source of building information. I have built 3 or 4 straight axle hot rods with rack and pinion set ups. Works good.
