    What does everyone do?

My main job is a Collision Mechanic. IVe spent most of my career repairing Benz's and BMW's, but I'm also the special projects guy. When ever there is a big restoration or some custome fab work I'm the guy they point the finger at.......... they seem to be pointing at me alot though.

    The Perfect Kit

Wow, now that is a great question. There is one parameter you didn't state and it can make some difference as to the choice of chassie you could use. However, I'm going to assume we're doing a rat truck using a cab that is pre 1948. Ok so here is what I would offer in a kit. 1) The chassis...

    welder

I'm a Lincoln fan. My welder of choice is thier 180C. It's a great all around welder, that is relatively compact but can do it all, and costs less than $1000. I've actually seen them now for less than $900 now, and that's Canadian by the way. I built my frame for my truck with one and as long as...

I need help on Building a frame

In my humble oppinion your frame would be fine built with 2x4x1/8 wall. I let my dad talk me into 2x5 on my frame because of the wheelbase length but I still don't think it was neccesary. To get the best penatration you should V out all your joints. Fish plating is a good idea on any high stress...

    Uuugggghhhhhh!!!

You definately don't need to cut it. When I was building my frame I wanted to taper the front of the rails down from 5" at the firewall down to 4" at the front crossmember. So I trimed out a wedge and welded the top back down. It was clamped to a steel bench the whole time but still managed to...
