I've been aware of these guys for a couple of years. There's a guy in Sterling Heights, MI with a midnight blue "Bird with this kit and a license plate that says 49 tbird. Personally, I like them. would love to build one as soon as the DeSoto is done. Easy Rods advertises in "OLD CARS WEEKLY" and they have lowered their kit price by a grand to $2,995.
For those who love the shoebox 49-51 Fords & think this "kit" is sacrelidgous, let me just add:
1) No overheating flathead
2) No 6 volt electircal system
3) No 4 corner overheating drum brakes
4) No hard-to-find sheet metal parts
5) No cardboard (uncomfortable) seats
6) Air Conditioning
7 (Disc) brakes that really work!
8) Power windows, seats, steering, brakes, cruise
9) Better than average sound system from the factory
10) Never a shortage of people talking about your car.
11) You can always build another one without spending a fortune
12) If it brakes down (anywhere) you can always find parts for it.
I could go on............
