Buying a welder on a budget

Buying a welder on a budget

What city are you in? Check your local CL. Always good deals to be had there. Nothing wrong with used if you do your research and check the unit out thoroughly. Also, you'll wanna look for one with an owner-owned tank, quality gauges/regulator and as many accessories as you can get. If your...

    Poll: San Francisco Opportunity??

I was born and raised in Marin county, now transplanted to Sonoma county. It is stunningly beautiful here. The city of San Francisco is another story. If you're going to work for the city, you're going to have to live in or fairly close to the city. You won't like it! Where to...

Quick & dirty (and cheap) frame rotisserie.

My frame is only a couple of hundred pounds, if that. For the ElCo body I'd suggest a couple of 4-wheeled engine stands. They're a dime a dozen on CL.

Quick & dirty (and cheap) frame rotisserie.

Now that the frame is built I needed to find a way to get it into the backyard for blasting. I also needed easy access to the underside and I was tired of fighting with my grandson to help me lift/move it. I started thinkin'. I've got a pair of cheap HF engine stands. One I've had since the...

    Anyone used 4-bangers?

Originally came out of an '88 Turbo Coupe. The bottom end has been built, BoPort head, T3 turbo and all the good bolt-on pieces. [cl

    Anyone used 4-bangers?

This one will be dropped in my '27 roadster. Right around 350hp and just recently pulled 30mpg on a trip south. If (big if) I can keep my foot out of it, I'll get 23-25 around town. Granted, it's computer controlled. Not traditional but very easy to build. This thing's gonna scoot in a 1500...

mounting bones what to use tie rod or heims

I'm cheap so I try to make as much as I can. Made my mounting tabs outta scrap 3/16" plate, drilled a hole and welded in the Speedway shock mounts. Turns out I ordered the wrong shock mounts! I ordered the round ones that had a 5/8" hole. Had to open them up to 11/16" and had a machine shop...

Road trip! Haha! Ran across another one. Don't know if it's for sale or not.

Would you buy this '62 Econoline pickup for $500?

Thanks for all the input but I've decided against buying it. No room, no money and way too many projects! If anyone wants it, it's in Santa Rosa, CA. Here's the CL ad................... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/3646301296.html

    Model T Roadster Rearend Width?

I'm sure it'll work but the big question is the width. WMS (wheel mounting surface) to WMS. You'll want a good 3" clearance between the tire and the body. Also, mounting factors. Transverse leaf, coilovers? But really, you can make anything work! Pics of your progress, please!

Front axle/suspension for Mod T roadster?

Hey, I thought this was a rat rod forum? I only buy from Speedway or the aftermarket world what I can't make, find in a junkyard or score at a swap meet! Here's your front suspension setup right here. Everything's there including the bones. It's CL so offer him less than $175 he's...

using a bolt to press in kingpin bushing

Being the cheap fool that I am, I really like that idea! Never thought of that! However, my spindles are in the machine shop as we speak. It was a bear trying to get the old bushings out and the new bushings need to be reamed to size for the new kingpins to slide in properly. You'll need...

How to mount your rearend using junkyard parts.

Made the outer panhard bar brackets and mounted them. Fabbed the housing brackets. Now I'm ready to shorten the Kia trailing arm. Cut the end off, then removed 4-3/4". I guess I went a little too far! 16 penny nails to the rescue! Panhard bar all welded up and mounted...
