    chop top fill in..

tack it in on Sunday night. Go to work the next day, when you get home add some more tacks. Next day do the same, etc. That way you don't get in a rush and distort the crap out of it. It can be hard to be patient.

So why does it take so long???

And sit down once in awhile, face the chair towards your project, drink a couple of beers and ponder your next move. Sometimes a short 30 minute break and a couple of beers will do wonders.

So why does it take so long???

Those 60 day builds are sorta cheating. Why? #1, they collect all the parts before they turn a wrench or do anything. #2 they have the tools required to do the job, #3 most of the time they start with something that can be built quickly. #4 not the person first build. Having said that. I am...

    New toy/project

May not need new cylinders. We just rebuilt a 1000 ton press and they just put new seals in the cylinders. Those cylinders on your press are pretty common so parts should be available. Check with a hydraulics repair place first. If they can't help you check with Prove Engineering in...

    Emulsion tubes Stromberg 97

So I soaked them in several different solutions with no luck, and I soaked them for days. Today I was in the kitchen and got thinking about a penny, you know, if you soak a penny in vinegar it gets nice and shiny. So, although they are not copper, brass, I got the wifes white vinegar out and...

Questions Rat rod with no title HELP!!

Kansas was a no tilte state until 1975. If you have the VIN and a bill of sale from kansas, it says at the bottom that for vehicles produced prior to 1975 the bill of sale acts as title, you should have no problem. I have a 38 GMC with a Kansas Bill Of sale, that is where I bought it, no...

    cowl steering

1938 Chevy box mounted under the dash. Pitman arm is inside the cab and the draglink is outside. Any box that was originally on the drivers side frame rail with the pitman arm in the vertical position pointing down will work for traditional steering. Cross steering is a different monster...

came to my attention people want lacquer paint

Back in the day (88) I shot my 56 Chev with lacquer and just loved it. I never had any cracking but that is not to say it can't happen. Easy to shoot, but labor intensive if you want a deep paint job. I wet sanded between each coat and if memory serves laid on around 10-12 coats. Once that...
