1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

After some serious calculations and engineering design I came up with these intricate headlight mounts.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

Thanks for the positive comments, guys. A little insight, Bonehead. The rectangular tubing was saved from a Heidts MII front crossmember that I narrowed for the Renault project. The pedal arm was taken from the original cab back brace that ran from wood corner to wood corner. So that steel is...

    Happy Festivus!

I learned about Festivus when my neighbor came over this morning with a list of complaints about my dogs and about me. Just kidding. Merry Christmas to you all.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

I enjoy making parts like this master cylinder and brake pedal mount. All the materials were laying around. I got the master cylinder from a RRR member for free. Sorry, I don't remember who, but thanks. The pedal arm might need some zigging and zagging depending on where on the firewall it...

    Modern cyclecars?

I forgot about that one Smalls. Somewhere, in a foreign land folks build something similar using a cut down steel barrel for a body. I'll search for it.

Welcome. I like everything about your roadster. Just my style. The Caddy flathead is a great choice.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

Thanks zz. I know I can't make a hot rod out of flat sheet metal. I did however get the Ross steering box mounted. Several years ago I got an old steering column and wood wheel from inside a school bus used as a warehouse. French lake Auto Parts. It's all transplanted into the Dodge.

425 Caddy Engine Added Oil Flow???

I don't know anything about 425 Caddy engines but if it was mine I'd find another head to compare your heads against. See if it is normal.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

Sorry I don't have more information. It is from and old car and was longer. I had to cut the end off but that made it easy to clean out the inside and take some dents out of it. Searching swap meets for $5 parts like this was fun for me.

1930 Dodge truck, not a Fargo

Thanks for the positive comments guys. It means a lot. Now working on the steering. I have a Ross steering box, new, probably for a fork truck. It might be a little quick but I can slow it down with a short pitman arm. Slow going with the sore back and hip.

    Hot Rod Poetry

I have an unverified story like that. I worked at Armour. Swift was right next door. Two packing plants. Two guys, they were janitors. One would punch both of them in at Armour and the other would punch them in at Swifts. It took each of them about 4 hours to do their jobs. Then they would go to...

So how do you pick your next project?

Historically, when I'm about 3/4 finished with a project something happens in my brain. I see another project, it might be on Craigslist or Marketplace or at a swap meet. I'm not looking for anything, but I see it and think, "I can make something cool out of it." It has to be cheap, and the more...
