Anyone know the purpose of this part?

Ford used heavy duty muffler clamps to mount all sorts of brackets on the 8.8 rear. Shock mounts, sway bar mounts, coil spring pads... Without more to go on than the one picture, I'd be guessing.

Low Buck, Long Term F-5 Build

Beautiful start to the project. So did the suspension woes you mentioned happen to involve the trailing arms solid mounting to the axle, cause a bind (tendency move in unison) when the axle moves over uneven ground? I wondered about that causing lots of twisting of the frame and stress on...

Has anyone here done a Half leaf front suspension?

Yep, Quarter elliptical is exactly what I had thought of, Four link, and solid mounted springs that slid on the axle,in a pocket(the pocket was to provide the same control as a pan hard bar. how would you fix this?

Different.... I like to think a little different.... by the looks of top chop you should have no problem with a mid 50's Gm truck hood blended and reshaped to your taste... maybe... ah ... I don't know... a corvair header (grill) for the lower filler... By the time you narrow the the rear...

    Hello all

I stumbled across this board while doing a little research on Stude stuff. Looks like a good place to learn and ask questions. Currently getting nothing done but repairs, the weather here is too cold for much else...
