I think you should shed some light on said sky hooks! I know there are a bunch of guys here, including myself, that need a good system of body lifting
The cherry picker is getting cumbersome.

Heh, heh, my 'sky hook' is nothing more than a comealong tied to beam in the rafters with a rope sling tied to the roof pillars of the body- caveman simple but it works for me.

Gotcha!
Once I ever get around to adding on to my garage, I'll build a rolling gantry with rails up at ceiling level, beam going across with a trolley so I can lift and move anywhere in the shop [cl but that's still a pipe dream.
Now........back to our originally scheduled programming

Needing more room, I put up my Costco tent on the driveway and rolled the frame into it. Set the body down and rolled it on its side so I can finish up the welding, etc., also gives a better look at how the floor and subframe are put together.

Uhhh, is that a no-no?? Not having fancy toys like a rotisserie, I just do what I gotta do...
Actually the body is pretty strong in the areas that are in contact with the floor ...not like I'm worried about scratchin' the paint
Now if I'd scratched its belly and made it roll over, that would definitely have hurt the roof

Body out, chassis back inside. I just need to shorten the driveshaft then it comes all apart to finish up the welding on the frame. A lot of the brackets and so on were just tacked in place a I assembled the complete car. It's amazing how many small parts and pieces end up getting created along the way....

I'm sure lots of you have done this before but I thought I'd show how I shortened my driveshaft.
Donor shaft is a 70's GM with the larger u-joints and a Turbo 400 yoke. The rearend yoke has the small GM u-joint. I couldn't just shorten the shaft and use an interchange joint because the driveshaft tube has a step in it.
So I went to my junk pile, err, I mean my parts room, and found a shaft that had the small u-joint with the correct flange to fit the cut driveshaft.
I cut through the weld on the yoke and knocked the yoke off. Squared it up on the cut driveshaft and welded 'er up - also phased the joints about 5 degrees (eyballed).
Now that it is in place, I see that I have clearance to add a loop to the bottom of the X member so it is properly tied together to stiffen the frame.
I've done probably 30 driveshafts like this and never had a failure or a wobbler (yet!).
