I'm not going to repost the whole rebuild thread but I will include a link to the existing thread for the 34 5 window. But here's my traditional Hot Rod. Started in the 60's and 70's and finished in 2012.

This is more of a rebuild and finish thread. A little history on the car. It was purchased be the last owner in 1958 for $10. He had started working on the car and had completed a lot of work on it. Unfortunately he passed away last year and never completed it. I found out about it through a friend of mine who knew them and was able to purchase it from his widow.

It has quite a few new parts on it like the fenders, running boards, the associated braces, fuel tank, winshield frame and lots of little parts.

The original engine was replaced with a 1936 engine which has the insert bearings instead of the babbited main bearings. The brakes have been converted over to hydraulics and tube shocks on the front axle.

It was paint in the early 60's and the upholstery was started in the 70s.

Here's what it looked like when I first found it.

And this is what it looks like now after a good cleaning and buffing.

The paint on the back in flaking off but it will stay that way. It adds to it's character.

Beautiful and brings back memories of a car I never got to see that my Pop had in his early days. After the war, my Pop wound up in Hialeah, Fl where he worked at one of the first horse racing tracks and purchased a 34 Coupe that had been used by a rum runner. Converted to run shine with tank still in the car. He kept getting pulled over by the law and it was always the same thing. They knew the car well from previous chases. My Pop grew to be friends with one of the cops that pulled him. Over the time that he was down there in the area, Pop and his friend the cop would have a little fun with the cop and rum runner routine. State Rd 84 was and still is known as Alligator Alley and they had quite a ball making fake runs down the "Alley" with Pop making fake runs and the cop in high speed pursuit. He always had a smile on his face when he recounted some of the tales. Thanks for the my own memories of that smile....

OMG... there is drool running all down my face! That is one beautiful car. Never known anyone who's actually owned one! You are one lucky dog! [dr

Love it! I can't wait to get started on my 34 Tudor project. I have to finish up my Buick first. I made myself a promise about 10 years ago that I would never have 2 cars disassembled at the same time. I hope I can keep that promise.

Good to see this one again. I am surprised to see Edgewood support a car show. It didn't even have a gas station when i lived in Albq in the 70's.

Since I stole the old tires and wheels off of the 34 to use on the Model A Pickup I bought new tires for the coupe and will use the refinished 16" wheels and 40 caps.
