i got my steering columb where i like , looks good and feels comfertable. now it comes out my fire wall kinda high and i need to get down low to get to where my steering box will be i got some knuckles but am still confused . does the box need to be on the frame? could i get a thick plate and mount box way up high and get a longer drop arm? i think i could and with a longer drop arm it might steer easier . am i right or wrong? please help before i ruin my truck.

I believe extending the steering (drop) arm will increase steering effort and stress on the box. A longer arm will quicken the ratio and reduce the number of steering wheel turns lock to lock, but will require more effort. Not a desirable effect if my buddy's '52 is any indication.

This is assuming my logic is correct. Maybe somebody else can prove or disprove my thinking...

I can't visualize what exactly you are doing. Can you post a bunch of good pictures showing what you have and where you want to move the box to.

I believe you are correct on the effort, it would be like putting a much smaller steering wheel on the car, same concept.

I think I would be looking for a longer steering shaft from the box to the wheel or what not.... If you really must have it there... or perhaps a different column altogether
