Some more progress on the worlds longest paint job. Door jambs, firewall and trunk painted.
I didn't get pictures of it last week but it's assembled ready to be blocked and shot. White pearl top blue body and clear coat.

In anticipation of having a car soon !??! I started cleaning parts since I'm not working on some other project.
Polished the 74 year old interior handles.
Polished the trunk handle and added vinyl letters.

I'm restoring a 1950 New Mexico plate for the car. MVD requires the plate to be readable original or restored to close but doesn't have to be the exact colors.
The plates I have needed to nice to go on the painted car. If I ever get it back!
It was blue background with white letters and numbers.

I soaked the plate on vinegar overnight and have it a wire brushing and sanding to remove all the rust and old paint on the front. Left the old color on the back.
This is rinsed off before a good scrubbing.

Ok the paint job! It still hasn't been shot yet. He did get it assembled and aligned. Now he's blocking it again.

Are you using a roller or brush for the numbers? Either way, you're doing an excellent job!

I think I'll use a brush like I did on the 34 plate. I've tried the small roller and it didn't work well for me.

Numbers need one more coat of white. I'm using an extra large Sharpie paint pen and brush.
