Thanks dutch.
On the backside of the skirt there is a lever that locks the top of the skirt onto the fender. At the bottom of the two corners of the skirt there is a adjustable bracket that clamps onto the stock inner lip of the fender. Fairly typical for fender skirts i will try to post a pic of the back of the skirt later.

Finished up some rust repair.....

on the narrowed rear fender.
Any one that has ever worked on these F- 1 trucks will recognize this area.
Double walled with a bolt thru it to attach the inner fender brace to the lower skirt of the rear fenders.
Pics 1-3. This is always a bad area for rust. Flip the fender over and you can see why. Factory made rust trap. You can see just how much crude has collected in there.
Pics 4-6. Cut out the bad. Made a patch. Cleaned out the crude and sparayed with rust converter. When that was dry gave it a good dose of weld thru primer/corrosion inhibitor. Welded in the new patch.
Pics 7-9. patch welded in and a quick skim coat of filler. I also did some hammer work to the lower edge of that area as well. This fender has been beat up more than once.
That's it for tonight.
See you all tomorrow....

Busy day today with Dr's appointments and tying up loose ends in regards to my Mom but these were delivered just before I left the house. You can believe that I couldn't wait to get home to unwrap them.
Lester 6:00-16" Tires with a 3-7/8" wide white side wall. Wider whites than most use(3.25") but with my era of build I think that they will look great.
Here are some pics including some with the 16" Caddy sombrero resting in it's future home.
I scrounged a long time to come up with the bread for these babys.
Now all I have to do is pull off the old tires and blast and paint the rims.
Thanks for visiting...

Those are gonna look killer and will be worth the scrounging.

Dig those Sweet WWs !!!
[cl

Looking forward to see them on the Build.

sweet! ...next thing you know you`ll have shiny paint on the truck to match the bling..... :D

Really looking forward to seeing those mounted on the truck.[cl

Those will make her look classy.

Thanks Gang.:D
A custom car guy debating over what width white walls to use is a lot like a teenage girl agonizing over what shoes to wear with her prom dress........ [ddd
Won't get much done today as I have to go pick up some steel tubing to build the pick up box cross braces and mounts. Then on to my 3 times a week PT appointment and then off to fill in with the Big Band for a Gig.
See you all tomorrow.....

Like wide whites on anything after 1960. :( Those of us who lived thru the era and watched the evolution of whitewall styles understand what you are saying Torchie. Of course Cadillacs, convertables and '50 Mercs without WWs grate on me like fingernails on a chalkboard. :D
