1956 Powell Sportwagon

I found this truck sitting along the road, being used as a business sign. It took three years to convince the owner to sell it. He said there wasnt enough left to save. after 8 months and a ton of work, it came out OK. I thought about leaving it in flat black and just having fun, but decided to go ahead and finish it.

I found a 41 Plymouth for all the running gear. Thats what they actually used when building. All the sheetmetal, I fabbed up myself. It took a while, but I was happy with the outcome. Its no show truck but looks pretty good.

Thanks. Only about 1000 produced, so they're fairly rare. Unfortunately rare doesn't always mean valuable.

Yes. I kept it as original as possible. I paid to much to get a 41 Plymouth parts car just to have all the mechanical parts I needed. They used a 1941 Plymouth chassis purchased from a wrecking yard, rebuilt the running gears, welded the body straight to the frame, and sold as new.

That slide out tray was for your hunting or fishing accessories. This truck was supposedly built with the outdoorsman in mind.
