picked this up late last month from Freach Lake Auto parts. 57 COE... or Chevy called them LCF... FOR low Cab Forward. I had this 81 chev one ton with a streched crew cab chassis under it and a 20 foot bed on the back to use for parts.... so time to strat putting the two together. here are some shots of the tear down , and of the cab sitting on its new frame.... just before i rolled it into the shop to start on some fab work and to shorten the frame a little.

Dad-gum, that is one looooooong frame
Looking forward to seeing this one come together, it's going to be a sweet ride.

Sweet! I would be seriously tempted to leave the frame as long as it is now and make a giant bed for the back.

not much done in the last couple of days.... just some cleaning.... lots of years of dirt... and other stuff that comes with things sitting around. scrubed the outside today and got the junk yard writing off the sides and cleaned the paint up a little with some SOS pads.. you can see the color difference between the top of the truck and the sides...i also had to kinda hang the front on it for a picture!:D

That's the ticket!

Almost makes me feel inadequate with just a 13' bed. ;)

That Cab Forward gives you more cargo room.

You go boy!

JAmmerspeed. I will be following as I have had this in mind for a 59 LCF for a haul truck. Quick question on the width of the 81 1 ton front axle. How close was it to actual width on the 57? It looks from early stab of the cab that it fits with no "rub" issues. Also do you think you will have enough engine room or have to modify the firewall into the cab.? Great work so far so get busy so we can watch[P

no rub issues at all with the width ... as far as the motor goes, mine will be behind the cab and under the bed. with the way mine will be sitting on the frame (low), the stock 1 ton motor mounts are only about... maybe 4 or 5" from the floor and right at the front floor brace for the body mounts... so no way i would be able to put the motor up front. it would end up being inside the cab with me. i will try and get a under the hood shot and post sometime tomorrow.
