You know, the last several projects I built I realized I spend all this time and $$ building a nice street rod engine and then I when I drive them I putz along in the slow lane like the grandpa that I am. Not saying I'll never build another hot rod engine; I probably will; but for this I'm happy with a decent restored stocker. Just wanted a budget priced, cool looking old shop truck that I could turn around fairly quick.

I hear ya, my friend. My new daily driver is a twin-turbo v6 monster that hasn't seen 70 mph yet. (But I still managed to get my first speeding ticket in 35 years anyway. )

Worse! New lower speed limit and a new camera on a street that I seldom use. The letter said it was to save lives. Do we need more black-clad tweakers in SE Portland? Really??? Actually, the worst part was that the guy in the pic looked like Santa, and it was the day after I put my new plates on.

Its all good. I'll just avoid that street in the future. the rest are still the old speed limit.

All this gray hair does have its benefits when it comes to young cops pulling us over. I just act a little confused and pretend I’m having trouble hearing them. Usually works like a charm and they let me go with a warning.

Doing 6 doors is almost like doing another whole car. Everyone of these things needed some kind of patching and all the bottom door catches were froze up and had bent rods. What a PIA; one more after this one.

I got a sneaky feeling that's why so few of those vans are left on the road anymore. They were worked hard for the most part, and not really washed or cared for as they should have been. The time and neglect took their toll, door latches froze up, rust started, and they got parked and junked out.
Don't think it was just the Dodges, either, you don't see the first gen Ford or Chevy vans anymore.

Very true, not the kind of vehicle that was generally kept out of the weather or shined up on a regular basis. I think this one was a plumber service truck for a while judging from some of the stickers that were in it.

Got through all the major door repairs; now just going back through each one and fixing some details along with checking the fit. Hinges were rusted, bolts broken, and the pins didn’t want to move so I took them all apart, fixed all the issues and getting the ready to paint.

Thanks Bob! Falconvan is kind of special. The first vehicle that I swapped in a different manufacturer motor was my 64 Ford Falcon van. I put in a small block Chevy/700r4. I made all my own motor and trans mounts and it all worked. A lot of firsts for me on that one so I was pretty proud of it.

I started painting the inside with some primer sealer this week; I’m going to get the inside and jambs painted, hang the doors, and then get the outside ready.
