So I got me a piano hinge, some rivets and a fancy pants rivet gun.
And I am going to install it on the diamond plate bed cover pops fixed up for me.
Tomorrow morning.

i got me a gallon of gloss black farm implement paint. $27
some low nap rollers and a lil brush.
i did this type of paintjob to my willys jeep and it turned out great.
as soon as i can i will get busy.[cl

i went to steele rubber products and bought the whiskers/rubber lips and all that other window crap for my doors.
it seemed pricey to me but
these are self adheisive strips tat are very well made, easy to work with
and do exactly what i wanted.
i tested it out by hosing my doors/windows thouroughly and i didnt get 1 leak.

this weds pops and i are going to try and get the four attachment points 2 for the front and 2 for the rear finally beefed up so that it is nice and strong.
the original ones were temporary but i have never gotten around to replacing them
pics soon.[cl

ok
yet another thing i want to do.
i am thinking of lifting the body the last 2 inches so it will be on top of the frame.
then drop the floor
that will give me 4 more inches of space inside that tiny tiny cab.
if any of you guys ever decide to chop and channel one of these cabs
i hope you are short and skinny
with out stretching at all i can stick my hand out the passenger window.
i am 5.9 and 135 lbs and i am crammed in this truck.
my wife cant drive it at all
her ****s wont even fit behind the wheel.
it is the only thing i dont like about it is hardly anyone can fit in it so i can take them for rides.

You've been warned before Billy. You're not allowed to say things like that without pictures.

Even in my Olds, I dropped the floor pan on the drivers side between the rails.

and another issue
when i replaced the kingpins they were so hard to turn that i think i screwed up the guts in my new steering box trying to break them in.
i will have to open it up and take a peek.
if it does need rebuilding i am considering buying another brand new box instead of rebuilding.
since i dont have a press and some of the other big tools needed it might behoove me to do so.
we shall see.
the symptoms are
i will be going straight and it will want to be pulling left
hit a bump and it jumps to the right a few feet:eek:
and then is pulling right.
i think it is skipping on the teeth inside the box.

I was kidding about the pic (sorta :D). That jumping around sounds like you have bigger issues than the steering box. Seems you have play between the tires. IF it were the box, it wouldn't be pulling different directions.

Jack the font end off the ground, grab a tire top and bottom, and see if there is any wobble. Grab at 10 and 4, and 2 and 8 also. Try the other side. Should be no more than a 1/4" movement at tires edge. Then go through and check all your linkage. Put one tire down and try moving the other side to side. Really shouldn't be any movement there.

If all is good, recheck your toe. Also check all your spring and hairpin connections.

My F100 has a wormed out hole in the axle. It'll do the same thing. Pulls a little right, but going around a right turn it'll flip left then back right after I straighten out.

Also check the bolts that hold the kingpins in place - might wanna do that first thing since they are new pins.

The only thing I could picture was in the movie Norbit, when his wife was getting in the drivers seat.
Honk, honk, honk, honk [ddd

i will do what you say once i get it to it's new nebraska home.
thank you for the rock solid advice.
this place is a gold mine of knowledge

my entire yard here is sand and thorns.
i have not done one single thing to my vehicles here where i live.
i dont even like going outside.

when i get this car here i am going to disconnect everything and lift the cab off then cut the floor out and drop it that four inches.
and while it is off i will rubber coat the underside to add weight and deaden sound and i might as well finally finish the inside of the cab.
i will have to make my steering column longer and if i am going to do that i will add a heim joint to straighten out the steering wheel
i also want a partial hood.
i am tired of having to run outside and cover it everytime it rains.
