3 wheel rat?

Hey all.
Ive been mullin around the idea of a v8 rat trike. Would that be acceptable to the group? If so then heres a few questions.
anyone ever build or ride one of these? Gearing?? Im thinkin 8.8 or 9 inch on the rear but what type of brackets do you use on these? Can you run a limited slip on these? Ive heard yes and no so im confused. Id like to go with a big ole caddy 500 or 472 since there about the same weight as a sbc but i do have a speedway sbc crossmember and motor mounts so im not sure on it yet. Suggestions?

1st one looks cool, 2nd one looks a little over the top, 3rd is decent - wonder how that flat front wheel steers, 4th looks like a farm implement.

Would IRS be better than a solid axle for turns?

Probably wouldn't want a limited slip, it would be impossible to turn under power. Corvette or late model Ford IRS would be cool. Planning on a auto or manual trans?

I like the looks of the Eldorado transaxle with the big 455. All the heat and noise is behind you. I have thought about building one with some kind of FWD car set up placed to make it a rear wheel drive. The idea has gotten no farther than in my head....

As far as I'm concerned (in case anyone cares), the FWD transaxle in the rear is the only way to go. Disc brakes, independent rear suspension, all the heat and potentially leaking fluids behind you, handles much better and much less weight on the front wheel. I've built three of them...one Chevy Citation with a 2.8, a Fiero with a H.O. 2.8, and a Toronado with a built Olds 350. They're fast, handle great, and get lots of attention.

The flattie is the only one i like, looks like the right size and the fenders are boom, as was said the others are to big in all dimensions

You can build anything you have a mind to. I own a trike although not v8 powered. One thing you need to put into your mind from the very beginning, you won't be able to put your feet down and drag them in order to stop a beast like that. You'll wind up running over yourself.... It won't be fun to be keel-hauled either...

look into boss hoss motorcycles and trikes. I think they are small block chevy with power glide trans.
