31 chevy 5 window build

getting back to work on this one. it will be fenderless, 2" chop, 5" channel, 4" z in rear, and picked up a model a front axle. any suggestions as to brakes for the front axle?

no wood left in this one. it was in a barn fire, plus a beam fell on it. just replacing with square tubing.

rear suspension

We were able to get the frame z'ed,(7") but i think it should be a little less, and shortened the trailing arms on the 62 c/10 donor axle. we pretty much are just doing the same chassis as the 47 a.d. we built, with a 55 chevy p.u i-beam axle, that we are going to have to shorten. but it's cheaper to re build this axle(kingpins, bearings,brakes), than to use the model a axle we had, but we will use the wishbones, and the buggy spring, off of it. we are trying to save the stock grill, and gave it a little off the bottom.

getting a little more done on the rear suspension, made a crossmember for the trailing arms, and a bracket for the panhard rod. split the wishbones on the front, added tie rod ends, and adjusting collar, into one end. and started the mounting plate for the other end.

You've caught my eye with the wishbones, how are you adjusting caster?
I'd like to see more of the setup, I assume you are setting the angle of the pin through the plate on top of the axle?

One other quick question, what are the rear trailing arms?

i figured to set caster off the plates, get it close, drill the hole on the frame for the tie rod in the wishbone, check caster again, then weld the plate to the wishbone. then after the spring is mounted, fine tuning can be set by the tie rod adjusters. yes ,no, maybe? the rear suspension is from a 62 chevy c/10 p.u. thanks for watching, mike.

two steps fwd......

I cut a few inches too much off the front of the frame, so had to weld the piece i cut off, back on the frame, and cut it off in the right spot(mock it all up the first time mike) there would have been no room for the engine. and did some more work on the front axle.

sitting on all fours.

finally got to roll this thing outside today. it sure felt good(even though it had to be pushed). the spring still needs a mount built, but little by little did a engine mock up today also.
