i think you are correct to use the shorter hood if you are doing the susp. the way you are. keep up the great work! the roof looks awesome. oh, and i'll be watchng as long as it takes.

Drilled the holes in the frame today and started making provisions for the front cross member. I still need to weld in the pipes obviously. I think it is shaping up nicely.

Thanks for the compliments...

I'm a little ****ed right now as I am sick of my new camera taking crappy pictures. The first pic turned out good but I don't know what I did to get it that way.

I did get the pipes welded in the rail holes during the week. I had a bunch of ambition and time today and decided to weld some uprights to the table and level and square up the frame rails. Once that was done I threw everything up there and started mock-up. The rear axle is just sitting on the frame table... it needs to be lifted up about 5-6 inches and moved forward in my opinion. The front axle will also be lifted up a bit. I think the next thing I will go after are the engine & transmission mounts. I am also kind of anxious to weld up my exhaust and get my hands on a tunnel ram.

It is kind of tough to get a feeling for how the stance will be... guess I will just have to do the best I can and I can always adjust once I get it on the ground.

The best part is getting all the parts laying around in one place.

More from today...

I mocked the rear axle 4 inches higher and slid it forward a bunch. I like it better than before. I tacked up the header kit I bought from Speedway... I tore them apart again because I want to get the engine mounted first obviously. I had a wire wheel with a tire laying in the garage so I threw that on front to get a better look also.

Moving along bit by bit..

Ha!

Sorry.... but I can't stand a messy shop. I find if I clean up at the end of each day my ambition level remains higher.

I looked at the recent pics I posted and considered asking the mods to change the title to something other than the slowest build as it seamed to jump light years ahead the last couple days. After I stop and look at what remains I think I will keep the title just the way it is.

On a side note to everyone.... the comments are always appreciated + I know how to take constructive critisizim if anyone notices any flaws along the way.

Thanks to all!! I will keep plugging away and updating with pics.

Big Ton,,

You have a really nice ride going there. What are you going to run on the rear for rubber? Also , What do they call the headers you got from Speedway? Your ride is going to be Kick *** when shes rolling. I'm in the proses of building a 40 IH right now. Just got the steel yesterday.:D

Good idea 4dr orphan. We should get all the Cornbinders in one place for a RRR International "Show".

Couple more things done. The engine & trans mounts are done. I had hopes of making some type of elaborate engine mount with lightening holes and such but function and not screwing up the frame look won out in the end. Also... I decided to wack out more of the firewall and move the cab forward, enough to get it right up to the back of the heads. I threw another side shot in there because it did change the look quite a bit in my opinion. Again... keep in mind that the truck will sit lower than it appears. Next will be the headers and the cab floor.

The mounts look real nice to me powerplant, nice fab work. I also think the truck looks even better with the cab moved forward. Good move in my opinion.

I just dove in here and am seeing your build for the first time and let me say i think your Cab choice is awsome. The old IH make one of the coolest looking rat truck cabs i think and everything is looking awsome....i am building a 38 chevy in the very similar fassion and would like to ask you if you have a certain gearbox in mind for your steering?.......keep up the great work.
