After getting this beast unloaded with out any steering... it was time to have a look over...

A large punch list was populated to fidn out what had been done, what was done incorrectly and what still needed to be done...

Looks like:

- Brand new wiwring harness (with some butchered wires )
- Nice bench seat
- Power windows at least partially installed
- No steering was hooked up at all, but looks like a power assisted rack
- SBC looks to have some center bolt heads added on
- Long tube headers
- Fuel Cell under the bed
- Several boxes of goodies in the bed

1st off we mocked up the interior then did an exhasut mock up...

More to come[P

nice looking truck.. the modern bed doesn't do it for me.. but i wouldn't change it at this point that's for sure..

I agree with the bed not my prefereance, the owner has a very cherry original for he truck, but he likes the look of this late model one better...

Ready to get this one on the road....[cl

Well... still picking up pieces and parts, as well as sorting out electrical issues. All types of them, like lights turning on with the ignition switch and power feedin from two places...

Got the truck started, but not sure if they ever set teh timing right, because it doesn't look close...[S

got a steering mock up done so it's time to get her running and moving then we can complete the rest...

CC....gotta ask....

You get that truck from a guy around the Rogersville, Morristown area? I'm sure I've seen that truck before....especially that late model step side bed...or is that a common mod? [S

Love the 67 to 72 body style, but I like the 71-72 grill better. Want to build me a swb stepside shop truck out of one some day.

Sir you are correct, we picked this up from that area, the owner has had this truck in and out of a couple shops, but hasn't had the best of luck getting it completed, so we picked it up from his garage so he will be able to enjoy it this summer and fall. :D

I'm suprised that the newer bed matches up as good as it does. It doesn't look bad.
I agree, it is amazing that the body lines match up like they do. It's just as surprising as the 1950 2 door sedan on the caprice chassis...

Casper is Mobile

We got casper fired up over the weekend. Transmission leak is now gone and things are moving forward...

Now it is time to dive into the wiring, as the parking light come on with the ignition switch, ther are no tail lights, power is fed to some area from two places:eek::eek:....

The cam in the 350 under the hood of this truck will almost make your heart skip a beat:D

Moving Along..

Finally got some post worthy information....

After tearing the wiring harness, that was brand new, completeley apart and tracing wires back to their origins I discovered that someone had plugged the dsah lights wires plug into the 12V feed for the Air/Cond:eek: Sometimes I wonder about people[S....

Anyway.. there was another unfortunate dicovery that is going to take sometime to fix... They (not sure who) manaes to get mud and rust in th fuse block of a brand new wiring harness... in between the firewall plug and the fuse block, all on the INSIDE of the firewall.. but all the wires are clean, almost as if someone dropped it in a mud puddle and then wiped the outside down and threw is in the freshly painted truck:eek:

Anyways.. the lighting issue is resolved and the fuse block is being taken apart and cleaned up... then put it all back together...

Next repinning the dash cluster plug to work with the new gauge cluster...

there is a pic that shows a pile of C-10 clusters just to get the gauges we needed and circuit board just to get it all to work and look good.

Looks like we are finally over the hump

Progress progress and ... well regress...

Trans leak finally brought to a hault with the new pan and replacing some trans bolts that were not correct for the transmission...

I dentified some other issues we will be working out....

incorrectly installed springs and a sway bar that only is held on with two bolts.... [S

Also adustments to the power windows.. as they bind like non other...

On a positive note.. did get the old dude out and take it for a spin... that is what made me double check the front end again.... Drive really well.. a bit bouncy.. but I figure that is due to the super lightweight bed...

Looking to drop the hammer on this guy a move it along. I think we have finally identified all the wrongs that we need to make right.... at least I hope so...[cl

Wow... this really sounds good!

Still making progress on the 68...

Exhaust showed up finally, it was on back order... it turned out really well, only made some small modifications to make it just right. and the Thrush turbos really sound good with the 'H' Pipe and long tube headers.... I know the owner will be pleased.

Also got the psing issue resolved on the front end, and it was a good thing because the King nust were finger loose  It just affirmed that I will be checking EVERY nut and bolt on this truck before it goes to the owner, because with my name on it, it has to be right :D

More updates to come...

More Progress.... and of course found some other things that will take a bit of time to work out....

Did a mock up on the modern bed and got the rear raised about 1-3/4" to its new home, makiong sure the body lines flow as good as possible, so I will be fabricating a new piece to fasten teh modern bed to the old frame, so of course they don't line up. But this shouldn't be too terrible to fix.

Also, looked into getting the power steering hooked up and it turns out the pulley bracket system that was previously retrofitted to make the A/C compressor work does not all the altenator to sit in the correct location so, that will have to be reworked. Then I'll be able to install the power steering pump and oh wait... no I won't because there is a long water pump crank pulley on the small water pump set up and no one ever looked to see why none of this lined up in the first place they just added spacers and wahser and stuff:(

So needless to say the more I cross off the list the more I seem to find wrong, but that's why this C-10 is in good hands so we can correct al those wrongs and return a smooth runnign reliable, easy to maintain custom truck for the owner to enjoy.

Until later.....

Oh... and I'll upload more pics of the pump later, tehse were just after clean-up

Almost there....

This truck has definately been a buger, but I think we finally have undone all the wrong done things, if that makes sense. I was mounting the new Billet Trans dip stick when I went to check the mounting location on the fire wall to make sure I didn't have any clearace issues for fastners low and behold, I came across the condesate line on the after market A/C was folded twice right after the rubber hose left the housing, so being that is would NEVER drain that had to be fixed, IE almost removing the entire sytem with out breaking the lines loose, since of course they had already charged it :(

Anyways.... got all that done, hid the wires and routed everything for the poer windows, then tapped new holes for the bench seat, as it was a later model and sis not line up. Also workong out the logistics on the door panels ( it is always fun finishing something that is half started as you try to figure out where the other crew/person left off.

Rerouted the sparke plug wires and did some wire clean-up in the engine bay. New quick disconnect battery terminals, all thoe little things that make mantaining the truck that much easier.

Things are looking good no, I beleieve we are in the home stretch on this one, the owner should be enjoying his truck this fall.
