46 gmc front brakes

I'm new to this and wondering if anyone knows the cheapest way to convert a 1946 GMC 1/2ton pickup to front disc brakes using the stock straight axle and using a 4-3/4" on 5 wheel bolt pattern rotor. Do I have to buy a spendy disc conversion kit or is there a cheaper route I can go? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Deege46

Usually cheaper and safer to go the kit route. I don't like using used parts for brakes!
