I'm thinking about doing a single on my dodge truck to avoid the late model gas tank. I like symmetry, but I REALLY don't like seeing the drivers side pipe crossing over when people split them behind the rear axle. ....not much sheetmetal/other stuff to hide the crossover pipe behind on an early truck.

I have to agree with you there, Flipper. I may try it with just the single tail pipe and see how I like it. Do you think the stock exhaust maniolds and 3" exhaust that I have going on would flow close to as well as headers?
I'm trying to keep it open on the drivers side of the frame so I
can build a tank for inside the frame. I don't want a tank in the
bed.
 
Back in the late 80's, when performance was making a revival, I knew somebody who had a new Z-28 with the 350 in it. He bought the gale banks exhaust kit for it. It had a single 3" main pipe (seemed HUGE at the time). It sounded really good and seemed to flow plenty.

I have already aquired a flowmaster merged y pipe piece (two 2.5" into one 3") for $4 at a swap meet and a one chamber flowmaster muffler (free) for mine. It might be loud, but it should sound good.

Todays to do item was to get the plumbing done on the power steering.
I hope the pump and box play well together. I don't see why they wouldn't
but then again I'm not the luckiest person I know.

After a trip to Albuquerque and $64 to have a pressure side hose made,
I should have power steering.

Wiring

Wading thru the wiring of the steering column.
I never would have thought there was 29 wires
in this thing. But it will keep the dash clean without
any switches maybe.

The only way it'll get done is to wade in on it.
I'm gonna be doing the same thing with my 48 Jimmie.
Puttin a 5.3 in it.
 
Great build thread - have to admit, I've been reading it like a comic book (in other words - looking at the pictures).

checked out the territorial prison in laramie and the dinosaur one in denver
might have a part time maintenance job. find out soon.

I hear that. Too bad it cost so dang much just to have a little fun.
 
I got my verigated cross flow ventilation system installed and working pretty well. I need to fix the crack in the operating lever still.
Some more of that pittling to keep from doing any serious work,

Just read through your build ,lots of great work there ! I am building a 1945 dodge here in the UK ,have some of the same problems and the way you have got round them has helped me,I will keep an eye on this one.might even start a build thread myself,good luck with the rest of your build !

Now that's a thought, I may have to do that.

I was expecting that to happen with mine and it hasn't happened yet in over 8000KM!

How many miles is 8000KM?

Mine has a screen. The only problem with mine is that every grain of sand or dirt in the floor somehow ends up in my eyes! :eek:

I have that same problem in the dually. But then again I don't think I've
ever vacuumed or swept it out either. There lies the problem I think.

Just ran through this from the beginning. The donor vehicle sure adds a lot of work, but it really can save a bunch of money and chasing around for parts.

Nice work.
