Two tone primer job........

I put some black in my primer for a different primered look.
Why be normal right?

I really don't like body work and I'm not very good at it.
I'm just glad this old truck was in pretty good shape. It's almost to the
"Dailey Driver Shop Truck stage". Far from a show truck but I don't want a show truck. More primer tomorrow.

Thanks Todd. Pure laziness on the chrome. You need arms 4 ft. long to get it off without taking the front end off so I just masked it off. If and when I paint it I'll blow it apart and paint.

Primed and ready...

I finished up the primer and got it ready to roll again. This is the drive it for a while stage. I'll work on the rear fenders at a more leisurely pace. They are
in bad need of some tender loving care. Especially the right one.

I kinda like the two tone primer look. Any one ever clear coat primer? A satin clear coat would be a cheap final finish.

Nice two tone.

I don't know about clearing over primer, but if I were you I'd do a test panel and see how it works. Seems like it should work at least for a while.

Looks great POPS.
I guess that my only concern about the Clear over the primer would be adhesion issues. Clear coat is formulated to bond with a pigmented base coat.
And although the Clear has UV protection in it you may still have some issues with the sun making the primer look chalky.
Plus when you do go to shoot color are you going to have a problem shooting it over the clear coat or are you going to have to sand it all off to make sure the color sticks?
You might consider going with tintable epxoy primer. At least you will know that it is durable and with a good scuffing will hold the color.
Just my 2 cents worth. But what do I know. i still paint with a brush.......
